We aim to give boys a real sense of ‘home from home’ during their time at Clongowes. The cornerstone of our approach is Cura Personalis or care for the individual.
As an exclusively seven day boarding school, the sense of community is that which sets us apart with boys and staff living and working together in a harmonious and mutually respectful way.
Boys live together in year groups with First to Fourth Years in dormitory accommodation. Our ambitious development plans allowed for renovation of 1st, 2nd and 4th Year living spaces in the summer of 2017 and 2018.
Older boys, the Fifth and Sixth Years, enjoy comfortable single or double rooms ensuite.
Our approach to the pastoral care of the boys is comprehensive with a strong, experienced team of Prefects (Boarding Housemasters) who look after the day to day well-being of the students. In addition, each year group has a cross functional care team comprising Prefects, Academic Year Heads, Nursing Staff, the Chaplin, Learning Support Teachers and the School Counsellor.
Good nutrition is most important our team of chefs serve nutritious, tasty and healthy food daily – an important part of making the boys feel at home. All tastes are catered for as are special dietary requirements. The boys start the day with a healthy breakfast while a three course lunch is the main meal of the day. In the evening a hot meal is served as well as a wide array of salads. Supper, or ‘café’ as it’s called, is served in the evening after study.
